Here in South Africa, we have so many amazingly creative artists and business people who create beautiful proudly South African things. This Christmas, it would be awesome to support all of these local companies and buy gifts that are made here in South Africa. If you’re struggling to think about where to find these locally lekker gifts; look no further. Here is my guide to buying locally-made Christmas presents.
“We believe local is lekker, not just lekker but pretty damn amazing & it is our mission & passion to bring you beautiful gifts for all occasions.”
I am about to sound lame, I warn you now. Fab Things is just fab. You can find their stores in the Harfield Village Centre on 2nd Avenue or in the Newlands Quarter on Main Street in Newlands, Cape Town. Yes, both stores are in Cape Town unfortunately! Their Newlands shop is brand new, I went to check it out the other day and it is looking amazing – filled with goodies perfect for Christmas! Fab Things is a curator of sorts, their stores are stocked with goods that are all made in South Africa!
They stock goodies from Tin Town
And Bow Peep. (click and check out the website for so many more beautiful things)
and Love Milo.
Don’t let some of the girlie images fool you. Fab Things also has presents perfect for your dad, brother, boyfriend, uncle and all the other males in your life.
If you (or your loved ones) are into beautifully designed cushions, tea towels, bags and other beautiful things; Skinny laMinx has you sorted. Just look at these beautiful items!
I may or may not be a tiny bit bias, as this is a lovely friend of mine’s business but her stuff is lovely and perfect for Christmas gifts.
Portobello Road, shop 313 Main Road Kenilworth, may technically be a coffee shop but it stocks Janie B clothing and many other Christmas goodies. Pop in for a cup of coffee, slice of their delicious cake and get some shopping done.
You can find Hello Again at 219 Long Street. They stock beautiful locally made clothing and some accessories too!
And that, is my Christmas gift guide. Buy local. Happy Holidays.
